Paris

Writer/Director/Composer/Executive Producer

Paris hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and was catapulted onto the national hip-hop scene in the '90s with his hit single and album The Devil Made Me Do It after earning a degree in economics from the University of California at Davis. The owner of Guerrilla Funk Recordings and Filmworks, he has sold over 5 million records featuring music that reflects the revolutionary sensibilities of collective upward mobility and self-defense, providing scathing critiques of America's racial history and its social and political machinations. Paris has released multiple solo albums, and his latest, Safe Space Invader, topped many critics' "Best of 2020" lists.  He's also produced projects featuring an array of musical luminaries, including Public Enemy, George Clinton, E-40, The Coup, Dead Prez, MC Ren (of NWA), Tha Eastsidaz, Mobb Deep & Cypress Hill, among others.

Paris' original material is often featured in Hollywood movies, TV shows, video games, and on streaming networks, and his writings have lately appeared in Vice Media, The Washington Post, and Medium.com.

WHY OFF TO THE RACES?
WHY GUERRILLA FUNK?

OFF TO THE RACES is relevant.  It fills a void in urban entertainment that has seen African Americans' underrepresentation in certain cinematic storytelling genres, most notably horror, mystery/suspense thrillers, and urban sci-fi epics. Guerrilla Funk's projects avoid adding to the abundance of hood movies, comedies, and slave narratives that have become synonymous with Black cinema and instead focus on overlooked stories of the urban experience by creating multicultural projects of distinction and innovation that:

• Maintain integrity and excellence in the current post-racial-reckoning environment, attracting top creative talent and financiers to participate in and endorse our wholly-owned and in-house created projects;

• Remain on the leading edge of emerging filmmaking and ancillary technologies;

• Maximize the potential for the greatest profit return to the company and project financiers.

Conscience
Guerrilla Funk understands the power of the media and the images and messages it instills in people worldwide. We answer the demands for entertainment while taking responsibility for these messages and images very seriously.

Commerce
Guerrilla Funk's unique expertise in creating our own content and contributions to the film, television and interactive industries has imbued us an indispensable understanding of the need to maximize return on investment on all of our projects consistently.  Our decades-long history of profitability in the musical entertainment space will effectively translate into our operations within the realm of film and television.

Profile
Guerrilla Funk Filmworks fuses artistic integrity with a vision for the industry's future and an uncommon history of success in related entertainment ventures - all elements that have secured the company as one of the most viable and promising independent production teams in the industry. Hip-hop stalwart Paris, the company's principal, leads a group of inspired professionals who develop and produce compelling human stories that entertain, enlighten and inspire.

Guerrilla Funk traffics politically and socially aware Hip-Hop and R&B and has sold over 5 million records independently.  Founded in early 2002 in the aftermath of 9/11, it provides an outlet for artists free from the constraints placed on politically aware content imposed upon many acts by traditional labels.  Guerrilla Funk Recordings, and its publishing division, Guerrilla Funk Music, own an extensive catalog of compositions featuring prominent hip-hop and R&B luminaries that can be administered for placement in the series.  A San Francisco Bay Area institution, Guerrilla Funk has established itself as a publishing powerhouse known favorably by music supervisors as a one-stop-shop for music featuring the following artists:
